Always praying for a way to make extra income, God brought Pre-Paid Legal into my life at just the right time. In September 2007, I took a leadership class, not realizing that God was preparing me for something big but not knowing what.
When I first became involved in Pre-Paid Legal, things in my life started to go haywire. I became very ill with a terrible sinus infection and at the same time one of my dearest friends passed away suddenly. I soon wanted to quit the business that I was just a few short weeks before, very excited about.
After much prayer and encouragement from my daughters I decided to continue this business, My upline Mr. Chip Humphrey was instrumental in motivating me to stick around. He saw something in me and my family that caused him to give us the extra push in this business that would allow us to succeed. He shortly became nicknamed “Bully” in my household but it was no mistake that he had become family.
We all attended our first event in the Summer of 2008 at Sunset Beach, N.C. This is where we saw the big picture and decided to never miss another big event. We built from event to event and as the team started to grow, so did I. Pre-Paid Legal became a part of me, I started to become very passionate about the business and loved the family sense that I got from it.
It was not until August 2009 when I decided that I finally wanted to make the run for Executive Director, nearly two years after I started my Pre-Paid Legal business. However, I came up short. I remember being on our team conference call the next morning and Kim Melia saying “to those of you that made the run and didn’t make it, now is not the time to sulk but to get over it and keep on running.” I figured they definitely knew what they were talking about since they are Platinum. I picked myself up, had a talk with my family and we continued on the the journey.
I knew I wanted to go for the run again…I was ready! This time was different, my team and I started really doing our two exposures a day sometimes even more. I faithfully practiced the 10 Core Commitments. In the month of March I was ready, the team was ready. We all pulled together and that month we were able to produce 77 counters. It was amazing and I was so overjoyed. Everything started to make sense now and I realized why I had not qualified back in August the previous year. I learned in the journey that it’s definitely not about the numbers and qualifying, it’s about your attitude and commitment (doing the thing you said you would do long after the feeling in which you said it has left you.)
I want to thank God for the great examples of leadership he has placed in my family’s life. I know it is not by accident that my family is part of the Melia Family. I also thank God for Mr. Stonecipher, our company, and this amazing opportunity. God has totally answered my prayers and little did I know what he had in store for me when I was praying for a way to just make a little extra income, as it says in Epheisians 3:20 God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think. My family and I are Pre-Paid for life!!!
