Terre Krotzer

Terre KrotzerPrior to Pre-Paid Legal I spent 15 years in the airline industry and my husband Randy worked as an engineer in the food production industry. We worked opposite shifts so our children would not grow up in daycare. Randy worked early mornings, and in the evening, when most people were heading home, I went to work. This included most weekends and many holidays.

Although our intentions were good, it was a frustrating way to raise a family. My job meant that someone else controlled my time with my family, controlled my vacations and my earning potential. We had little family time and even with my part time income we still ended up with more month than money. There had to be a better way! So, in the fall of 1998, when we were introduced to Pre-Paid Legal, we were very open to possibilities. The membership made sense to us, and the financial opportunity seemed almost too good to be true.

We worked hard and in our first 14 months reached the Bronze Executive Director level. Then came news that would forever change our lives. We learned that the baby we were expecting, our baby girl Kristina, had a genetic disorder. We were told she would not be born alive. We were devastated.

Although the doctors did not believe in Kristina, we did, and four months later our daughter was born. The doctors may have been right about Kristina’s disabilities but they were wrong about her fighting spirit. She had determination and spunk in spite of her diagnosis. She still had a fight ahead of her, but with her family she was up to the challenge.
Because of our Pre-Paid Legal business, we had the flexibility and freedom to put our energy into our family and our fight for our daughter’s life. Even though I spent a year and a half focusing on family rather than on Pre-Paid Legal, my business continued to grow. Every month Pre-Paid Legal sent us an override check of anywhere from $200 to $1,000. My airline job stopped paying me the day I stopped working!

It wasn’t until Pre-Paid Legal introduced the Players Club that I got started again. It was something I could do even with my limited time. I made the commitment to qualify for the Player’s Club and have each and every month since its introduction.

Today I am more excited than ever about where Pre-Paid Legal is going. It is wonderful to be able to work from home and fit it in around my family. And it’s amazing to think that today Pre-Paid Legal pays me more in two months than I used to earn in a year with my airline job.

And, it isn’t just about the money. Through our Pre-Paid Legal business we are able to touch the lives of many people. We have the ability to offer hope to others both through our membership and through the business opportunity.

One of the best parts about this business and being part of the Melia team has been the friendships that we have formed. We come together as a team every 90 days to celebrate our successes. We work hard together, we play hard together, we are building a future together. We are truly able to make a difference. We’re not just building a business we’re building a family.
